Progress

I just completed my first full week of radiation. I had the pleasure all five weekdays. The actual radiation itself is relatively quick. I am only on the radiation table around ten minutes or so. I don't feel anything when the beams hit my body. So I have to remain in position with my arms over my head while the machine does its thing. Easy peasy. I can do that.

Today I am feeling some extra sensitivity in the area being treated. I am told that next comes a rash. After that comes the sunburn. And then the sunburn on top of the sunburn, and so on.

I have definitely noticed that I am slowing down. The fatigue is a challenge. No amount of rest eases it. This, too, is to be expected. But I am sad that it will only likely increase.

But HANDS DOWN I will take radiation any day over chemo. Not even close.

The results of my EGD biopsies came back. I have a significant fungal infection in my esophagus and stomach. This explained so many of the upper GI problems I have been having. So more daily meds it is. Today I am definitely starting to feel better.

Those are the past week's highlights. Next week's highlights include a repeat X-ray of my foot. I am hoping and praying that I get my boot off!

Taking care of business and ready to move on!

Sally,

Thank you for the update. You are always in all of our prayers. So glad that the radiation portion is so much easier than the chemo portion.

Bless you and your family always,

John O.
