I am a little behind in writing about Week 10. It's been quite the week. It included an extra visit to Cancer Care for fluids and iv meds. Then there was a trip to the ER for dehydration, resulting in iv
fluids and meds. Finally, the grand hoorah, Thursday.
This past Thursday included not only the usual labs, oncologist visit, and treatment. It began with my "Results" appointment for the massive genetic testing I had undergone. I wasn't even sure I would actually keep the appointment. I wasn't sure if I could handle knowing if there was bad news. But I put on my big girl panties and........ I'm so glad I went! Good news!! I tested negative on all genetic abnormalities. This is beyond a huge relief. I didn't care for me. I cared for my children. Thankfully I do not have to worry about having passed along a genetic mutation to them and thus increasing their likelihood for having cancer.
I know they don't understand it at this point, but being able to tell the boys this was huge for me. I was terrified, literally terrified, that I would have to share that I had "given" them a genetic link to cancer. The relief I felt at receiving a 100% clean report was immense and indescribable.
.
I was also able to share these results with my cousins. Again, maybe it would not affect them as much at this point in their lives. But it could apply to their children and/or their grandchildren. Happy news, all the way around.
Finally, yes, the usual routine. The great news is that my oncologist and endocrinologist believe they may have a solution to some of my low blood pressure problems. My adrenal glands are not working properly. So hopefully with that corrected with medication, I will avoid all these crisis episodes and not have such extremes.
And, on top of that, I got chemo. Both drugs!
Rejoicing with you!!!
PROGRESS IN MOTION 👍😊🙏
So happy for you that you have positive news to share…..and as you shared, a heavy weight has been lifted. Keep it up Sally friend, we are all rooting for you 😁👍🙏🙏😘
